The Baller App is a social/location services mobile application. This initial iteration will focus solely on the sport of basketball, with the intention to roll out to other sports and hobbies as well. The primary concept is to allow a person to quickly and intuitively find where the best place or when best time to play basketball on a current day. Secondarily, the application will help foster the existing social environment that exists among basketball players in a community.
Initially the application will allow the user to create a profile with various attributes. The majority of the attributes are optional, but more advanced or skilled basketball players will find these useful. In addition, the profile has the option of including user generated vital statistics (with the premium version at $1.99 USD). This will unlock the stats tab option, and the user can see both their stats and the stats of all other users as well. A user will then be able to rate any one in their friends list, including themselves. Each of these ratings will be individual and editable, but the cumulative average will be affixed to the player’s profile.
After profile creation, the user has the option of selecting a court to make it the Home Court or adding a court if the location has not been created by another user thus far. If the user selects an existing court as the Home (default) it will allow quick access to the user’s preferred location. Creating a new location, will require certain descriptive fields filled out and picture submission. This process will generate an email to the admin for approval. The user can then “check-in” when they arrive at a court with the duration they plan on staying. Alternatively, they can schedule the time later in the day when they will be at the court with a specified duration as well. When viewing a court, a list of all current players sorted with friends first will be visible. A tab for viewing the court‘s schedule of users for the remainder of the day with similar sort filter will be the other option in court view.
The user will also be able add other users as friends. Once friended, the user can track friend’s locations and schedules through the friend feed to allow ease of knowing where and when the friends will be playing basketball. The user also has access to friends’ schedules for same same day plans.
